The Petit Saint-Jean estate belonged to the Montpellier architect Marcel Bernard until his death in 1981. Sensitive to environmental issues, through his will, he bequeathed it to the Tour du Valat. But due to conflicts with the neighborhood, we were only recognized as the sole owner in 2012.

From there a question arose: what vocation would we give to this property which is divided into three units, with its open environments, its beautiful 50 ha pine forest, and more or less ponds? less temporary, characteristic of wetlands that can be found in the Camargue? We made the choice to develop an agricultural activity compatible with biodiversity and the protection of neighboring natural environments.

We have planted orchards, with almond trees, olive trees, pistachio trees, persimmon trees, pomegranate trees... We are also running agroforestry systems, we have planted windbreak or fruit hedges, with around thirty species in total. We are trying things, we are currently carrying out a test with immortelle for example.

On the breeding side, we make land available via grazing agreements (Aubrac cows notably come to graze there), we also have our own flock of sheep, of around forty heads, to control the grass cover of the vines.
